With great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Richard Nishino, 88, of Honolulu, from a recent fall.Richard served in the US Air Force from 1954-1959 as a navigator bombardier. He received his BA from UH, worked for GTE Hawaiian Tel & its predecessors for 34 yrs, retiring as Assistant Treasurer in 1993.
A dedicated Hawaiian Financial FCU volunteer, Richard was a key member of it's Asset Liability Committee from 1985-2017.
Patriarch of the Nishino family, Richard was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father & grandfather, a kind, generous person, an honorable man of great integrity.
Preceded in death by youngest brother Roy (Sharon) of CA, Richard will be lovingly remembered by Ethel, wife of 65 years, Son Dean, Daughter Dawn Yogi (Gary), Grand Dtr. Sara Yogi, Brother Rodney (Edith) of Hilo, Sister Jean Yoshimura (Charles) nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews. Inurnment, Nuuanu Memorial Park. Private Service held.
