FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Betsy K. Sakihara
Betsy K. Sakihara84, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Noboru; son Mark; daughters, Lee Ann Lee (Ryan), and Patti; grand- children, Spencer, Jessica, and Christopher; and sister Florence Yoshida. She is predeceased by her parents, Kametaro and Tsuruko Miyahira, and brothers, Francis and Edward. Born on Maui, Betsy and her family moved to Honolulu where she graduated from Farrington High School in 1954 and was a kindergarten teacher at Aliamanu Elementary School until she retired in 1991. She was a member of Chatan-Kadena Chojin Kai and enjoyed traveling with Nobu during his employment and after he retired from Hawaiian Airlines to places such as Japan, Okinawa, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and numerous cities throughout the United States. Betsy was a proud grandma and was blessed to be under Spencer's care as he studied to become a nurse. She enjoyed attending Jessica's high school band performances and called Christopher a "genius" when he was a baby and was not at all surprised when he became his high school valedictorian. We are grateful to the staff at Hawaii Senior Care and St. Francis Hospice for their care and compassion and though we are heartbroken, we are able to get through each day, one breath at a time, knowing she is in heaven, at Jesus' side, watching over us all. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private services will be held.
