Violet Sachiyo Sato Awaya of Aina Haina Born Waialua, Oahu to Hiroshi and Michiyo Sato. Passed away in Honolulu on January 1, 2021 at age 95.Violet graduated from Waialua High School 1938, married George Awaya in 1945 and lived in Manoa before moving to Aina Haina where she resided since 1952. She worked as a seamstress for several clothing manufacturers including Nuuanu Tailor in Kaimuki. She loved fishing, bowling, ballroom dancing, singing Japanese songs, sushi, fruits, especially papaya, orchids and anthuriums, UH football and going to Vegas where she knew which machines were new each time. Her huge avocado tree bestowed hundreds of the best fruit to family and friends over the years.
She is survived by sisters, Emily Fujioka and Jane Johnson, son, Allen Awaya (Colette Gomoto) and daughter, Gail Awaya Fujii (Gerry Fujii), 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by husband George, son Dennis, brother Kiyoshi, sisters Nobuko and Ruth (Chidori).
