Ray was born in Puna on Hawaii Island. The eldest of nine, he took care of his mother and siblings after his father passed away early in Ray's life. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and fought at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France.
Ray worked for many years at the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching sports, photography and gardening. After he retired, he and Betty enjoyed exercising, walking, cooking and caring for their grandchildren.
Ray will always remain in our hearts. He is survived by his daughter Carole Tang, son-in-law Alan, grandchildren Justin and Alicia, and many nieces and nephews. A small private interment service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Please no flowers or monetary gifts. Thank you to everyone for your condolences and aloha.
