71, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 12, 2021, at St. Francis Hospice in Honolulu. She was born June 2, 1949, in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was the eldest of four. Karey moved to the Big Island in 1976 and then to Oahu in 1983. Her love for healthy living and the ocean kept her in the Islands for the remainder of her life. Although she worked many fun and interesting jobs, her last and most meaningful work, was for the Department of Education as a Behavior Health Specialist. There, for 20 years, Karey found great joy working with special needs children. Karey LOVED the ocean and swam daily at Kaimana Beach. Karey's other great love was cats, and she always had at least one. Karey is survived by sisters Annette Doroschak and Jan Hinz, brother Bob Stewart, and seven nieces and nephews. Her ashes will be scattered off Kaimana Beach March 6, 2021, at 9:30 am. Caringbridge.org.
