Stuart was born on December 22, 1958 to Mitsushi and Jean Nishimura. Though he was an only child, his friends were like siblings to him. He graduated from Moanalua High School and attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Stuart worked for IBM in Tucson, Arizona before returning to Hawaii and worked as an engineer for the US Navy, Department of Defense at Lualualei and later Ford Island until his retirement in 2018.
Stuart was always one who did for others. He found challenge and reward as a FIRST robotics mentor, beginning with Waialua High School Team 359 in 2002. He also enjoyed helping Moanalua High School's and Kamehameha School's teams as well. Beginning in 2008, Stuart volunteered at the FIRST Hawaii Regional Robotics Competition, and in 2016 he was awarded the Above and Beyond Award.
Stuart loved and supported his children. He was involved with Boy Scout Troop 9 as well as being "Mr. Fix-It" for Moanalua Middle and High School's band. From Boy Scout camps and projects, welding instrument stands, to building props for their marching band performances, Stuart gave it his all.
Stuart is survived by his wife, Fay and his two children, Todd and Stacie. He was predeceased by his son, Kyle.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service has been held. Stuart will be laid to rest at Valley of the Temples with his son, Kyle.
