72She was the only child born to the late Kenneth and Harriet Omura, January 5th, 1938 in Honolulu, HI. Yvonne attended Sacred Hearts Academy for 13 years. She graduated in 1956 as the Senior Class President and Valedictorian. She received a Bachelors of Arts and Science for Home Economics from the University of Hawaii in 1960. She started her career with Sears Roebuck and Co. after college, starting as cosmetic sales specialist, she advanced to several different positions within the company. She was a very hard worker and retired as an Executive Assistant, having worked in the local/regional offices.
Yvonne is survived by her children: Cindi Ortiz and Niall & Jera Silva. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.
She had been a part of People of Praise, a Christian community group, since 1983. She participated in many activities and volunteered her time regularly. Yvonne was very loved and respected by those that were in fellowship with her.
Yvonne was an accomplished artist. She painted some very beautiful oil and chalk paintings. Her painting of Makapuu was proudly displayed in our family living room. It survived the playful acrobatics of her children and grandchildren alike. She loved playing scrabble and enjoyed a good challenge. One of the things that brought a bright smile to her face was catching up on the latest adventures of her great-grandchildren by looking at the pictures on her granddaughter's phone.
