FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Madeleine Fauvre McGregor
Madeleine Fauvre McGregorMadeleine "Lyn" Fauvre McGregor passed away January 8, 2021, two weeks shy of her 99th birthday. Born in 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana and raised on the East Coast, she sailed aboard the S.S. Lurline to Hawai'i on a high school graduation trip, where she met Calvin McGregor, who was returning home from law school and whom she married after she finished college. Calvin went on to become a circuit court judge and Hawai'i state senator while Lyn raised their five children and many dogs and traveled the world with her family. Her passions were theatre and animals, and she was a dedicated volunteer throughout her life, most notably with the Honolulu Theatre for Youth in her younger days and later the Honolulu Zoo and Hawai'i Theatre, where she gave tours well into her late eighties. Her biggest thrill and perhaps one of her biggest honors was presenting the annual Kamehameha Schools song contest Louise Aoe McGregor Award for the outstanding student director. She gave the trophy for 27 years on behalf of her mother-in-law, who she dearly loved and for whom the award is named. Kind and generous and beloved by those who knew her, she is predeceased by her husband and oldest son, Daniel, and is survived by children Calvin Jr., Robert, Lurline and Paul and many nieces and nephews. A virtual celebration of her long and full life was held in January.
