91, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021. She was born on December 25, 1929 in Honokaa, Hawaii and was the youngest of 8 siblings. After graduating from Honokaa High, Sumiko moved to Honolulu to attend business school. Thereafter she pursued a career at Kaiser Cement as the Office Manager and worked there for 39 years before retiring. It was at Kaiser Cement where she met her husband, Shinji. They had 1 son, Robert.Sumiko enjoyed traveling with Shinji, entertaining, tending to her garden, and watching any level of basketball and football. She will be tremendously missed. She is survived by her son, Robert (Wendi Akiyama) and sister, Fumiyo Hamamura. Private service held.
