Marian Tsuneko Takagi
Marian Tsuneko TakagiMarian Tsuneko Takagi, 93, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2021 in Honolulu. She was born in Hala'ula, Kohala in Hawaii. The Kirita family was interned in Jerome, Arkansas during World War II and returned to Honolulu after the war. In 1951 she married Takaaki "Slim" Nakata who started Pacific Brokerage, Ltd., a wholesaler of toys and fireworks. She was active in the Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce as an auxiliary member and in Olivet Baptist Church.

After Slim's passing in 1971, she took over running the company until her retirement in 1975 when she married Douglas J. Takagi. They joined the First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu together and were active members. Due to his success in the insurance and the securities business, she enjoyed traveling widely with him around the world. She moved to Hilo in 2013 and moved back to Honolulu in 2017.

Marian is preceded in death by both of her husbands and two sons. She is survived by two of her sisters; and her brother; three daughters; three sons; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Due to current restrictions, a private memorial service for the family will be held on April 3, 2021.
