He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who will be greatly missed by family and friends. Tom was born and raised in Honolulu. He graduated from Kaimuki High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Tom was employed for 34 years by the Department of the Navy, Pacific Division, Naval Facilities, Engineering Command, as a mechanical engineer. He received superior performance awards for his work in the Phillipines, Guam, Okinawa, Japan, Korea and parts of the U.S. Mainland. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. Tom's pride and joy in life was his family. He was married for 57 years to his wife Amy whom he met at UH. He was happy that his two daughters, Lyann (Gary) Okada and Dr. Susan (Dr. Michael) Ching, "grew up well". He greatly loved his grand- children Justin, Jenna, and Cody and enjoyed all the special times he spent with them.
His ohana included his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, his nieces and nephew, his high school friends, ohana from Kaimuki Christian Church, and his neighbors from Salt Lake and Kahala Nui.
Thank you to the staff of Kaiser Permanente, Kahala Nui, Hi'olani Care Center, and Bristol Hospice for their compassion, care, and love.
Private services held. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts).
"May the eyes of the Lord watch over you.
