On June 11, 1949 he married Katherine Look at the First Chinese Church of Christ in Honolulu, where they were faithful members. For many years he sang in the Chancel Choir, while mom was active in the women's club.
They raised four children, JoAnn, Kalani, Susan, and Brenda in their Palolo home. During that time Henry worked as a salesman with A.B. Dick, Fisher Hawaii, Atlas Building Materials, and Lee Haskin Company. Even when he retired, he continued to be actively involved with the church, American Legion, as well the Wong Kong Har Tong society. We would often go to watch him march in parades like the Fourth of July parade in Kailua with the American Legion as well as the New Year's Chinatown parade with the WKHT society. He also enjoyed participating in the SeniorNet program at Honolulu Community College. Many of our celebrations have been captured as a slide show with music from what he learned at SeniorNet.
Dad passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2021. His urn will be placed alongside our mom in Nuuanu Memorial park following a private family memorial. He is survived by his children, JoAnn (Eugene Kam), Kalani (Avis), Susan (Randy Tanahara), and Brenda (Dickson Tanga), 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. We appreciate all the friends and family who have kept us in their thoughts and prayers.
