Our beloved mother, Doris Miyoko Peiler, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 12, 2021. Born on June 14, 1926 to Gunzo and Matsue Yano, Doris grew up in Laie and graduated from Kahuku High School in 1944. After graduation, she attended Cannon's School of Business and graduated with a degree in Secretarial Science. She went to work for the U.S. Government at Ft. Shafter, and it was there that she met her husband John and enjoyed a happy marriage until he passed away unexpectedly in 1977. After retirement, she dedicated her life to taking care of her grandchildren, babysitting, driving them to school, packing home lunches, and baking them cookies each week. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her church family. She is survived by her children, Rochelle (Craig) Tavares, Lanelle Hibbs, and Ronald (Donna) Peiler, brothers Richard and Ronald Yano, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation to be held on April 1, 2021 at LDS Church Waikalua Chapel from 8:30 to 10:00, services at 10:30, and burial to follow at 1:00 pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
