Born in Honolulu, Charles was a labor attorney who was passionate about the law and advocating for the underdog. He spent most of his career as legal counsel to many of Hawaii's labor unions that represented thousands of city and state government employees, and some in private sector jobs. Charles received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Hawaii where he graduated at the top of his class (Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma). Charles is also an alumnus of University Lab School in Honolulu.
Charles is survived by wife Rosalind "Rosie" Davis Khim, daughter Christine (Noah) West, Esq., son Ryan Khim, beloved grand- children Hannah and Harrison West, a sister, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephew Nathan (Lisa) Goodhue, and many other nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by son Kevin Khim and parents Charles and Helen Khim.
A memorial service will be at Nuuanu Memorial Park Chapel on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Public "walk-through" visitation will be at 11 a.m. Private funeral service will follow at 12 noon. COVID-19 restrictions will be observed and seats limited to 2 per family until capacity is met.
