62, passed away on April 10, 2021. Born in El Paso, Texas and raised in Waialua. He attended the University of Illinois on a wrestling scholarship. Home sick, Michael transferred to University of Hawaii where he got his degree in police science and psychology. He got his masters in psychology at West Oahu College. The loves in his life was his family, martial arts, and helping people which led him to criminal investigation division at Kbay Marine Corps Base. Michael enjoyed teaching people self defense. August 1, 2014 he was inducted into the Marital Arts Hall of Fame through Kajukenbo Kenkabo. I will miss the Sunday meals that chef Michael prepared. He is survived by his wife Patricia, sons Elijah (Brittany) Samala, Aaron Keone (Elizabeth) Samala, daughter Melchiza Samala, parents Juan (Virgie) Samala, Winona Gloria Samala, brothers Bruno Samala, Ambrose Samala, Seth Samala, Juanito Samala, sisters Bonnie Borges, Desi Deuz, Natty Abbott, Vicky Samala, and 6 grandchildren. Private service was held. Burial will be July 7, 2021 at 10:30AM Mililani Mortuary. Lunch will be at Blaisdell park at 12 noon.
