FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

JAMES BUCK HOY YOUNG, MD
JAMES BUCK HOY YOUNG, MDAge 88, of Honolulu and Kailua-Kona, passed away on April 2, 2021, in Carlsbad, California. James was a graduate of St. Louis High School and obtained his medical degree from St. Louis University in Missouri. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Vietnam War and went on to practice for more than 40 years as a successful and respected urologist in Honolulu. He was a caring physician who provided much pro bono medical service to various organizations including Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Aloha Medical Mission. In retirement, he moved to Kona where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing golf, and volunteering time to his church and community.
James was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was cherished for his giving nature and gentle sense of humor and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joretta, his children Bernadette (Joseph) Delaney, Margaret (James) McNamara, Mary (David) Bidinger and Christopher (Linda) Young and his grandchildren Michael Delaney, Daniel (Kasey) McNamara, Joseph McNamara, Jonathan Bidinger, Emily Bidinger, Maile Young and Nicholas Young.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Kailua-Kona on July 20, 2021, at 10:00 am. A burial service will be held at Diamond Head Memorial Park in Honolulu on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 10:30 am.
