FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Henry Hoopai
Henry HoopaiHenry Ho'opai (aka Henry Alvaro Jr.), 64, of Ewa Beach, HI, entered eternal life on October 20, 2020 at home while surrounded by his loved ones after his 14-year battle with cancer.

Celebration of life services will be held on July 17, 2021 at Kalihi Union Church (2214 N. King St). Visitation to start at 4:30PM. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed with mandatory face masks and social distancing.

Henry was born on O'ahu and moved to the Big Island where he raised his family before returning to O'ahu. He graduated from Kalani High School.

Henry married his high school sweetheart and lifelong friend, Paula after meeting in the 9th grade. They were married for 45 years.

Henry was a humble and gentle soul who was always there to help anyone out. He was a career mechanic who started with Mack Trucks before moving to Bacon Universal. After moving to the Big Island, he started his own business, Repair Unlimited. He returned to O'ahu were he finished his career with Quality General. He also served his country with the Army Reserve 411th Engineer Battalion as a Diesel Mechanic. Henry was a proud Lua Warrior and member of Pa Ku'i A Holo and served on the Board of Director of Laulani AOAO.

A loving husband, beloved father and devoted grandfather, Henry is survived by his wife (Paula), two sons Henry Alvaro III (Terri) and Hanalei Pagan (Jessica), daughter Ka'ohinani Miyashiro (Rodney), four grandsons Christopher Tumbleson, Cody Alvaro-Thomas, Shaden Pagan and Caleb Miyashiro, three granddaughters Shania Ah Chong (DJ), Alissa Makuakane-Miyashiro and Abby Alvaro-Thomas, great- granddaughter Samaralynn Ah Chong, great-grandsons Shiloh Ah Chong and Skyler Ah Chong and brother Alan Alvaro (Jennifer) along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Alvaro Sr. and Anna June Alvaro.

Mahalo to Dr. Richard Min, Dr. Jonathan Cho, Bristol Hospice, Rose Carlos CNA and the various medical providers who supported Henry through the years with compassion and Aloha.
