99, of Honolulu, passed away on June 28, 2021. Born in Fukuoka, Japan, she grew up in Ola`a (Kea'au) and graduated from Hilo High. Marie was an accomplished pianist, and taught piano lessons from high school into her 60's. She instilled an appreciation for music in many of her students. Always kind, thoughtful, generous and positive, Marie was deeply loved and valued by her family and many friends. It also delighted her to make others happy. Preceded in death by husband, Richard Shinichi Yoneshige, she is survived by daughters, Sarah Swisher, Ann Yoneshige and Yvonne Yoneshige (Richard Pawlak); grandchildren Karen (Steven) Larson and Stephen Pawlak; great-granddaughter, Alice Larson, and brother, James Funaki. Private services held. Family requests that in lieu of gifts, donations be made to 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans (520 Kamoku St, 96826), Nu`uanu Congregational Church (2651 HI- 61, 96817), or a nonprofit of your choice.
