FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Karen Lei Sakai
Karen Lei Sakai, 79, of Hilo died June 7 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired cashier for Safeway in Hilo, a volunteer with the Boys Scouts of America, Aloha Council, Pukahi District where she held many positions within the district and several units and enjoyed crafts and making beaded jewelry. Visitation from 11-11:30 a.m. Friday (July 30) at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 Pavilion; memorial service at 11:30 a.m. with inurnment to follow. Casual attire. Face masks and social distancing observed. Survived by children, Lawrence (David) Sakai, Karl (Novelie) Sakai, Melanie (David) Shiraishi, Dayne Sakai; brother, Stanley (Faith) Kubo, Jr.; five grandchildren.
