FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

SYDNEY PIETSCH KENNY
SYDNEY PIETSCH KENNYSydney Pietsch Kenny passed away at age 74, on June 29th, at her home in Kaneohe surrounded by family. A friend to all, Syd was a joy and kept her humor until the end.

Syd was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 31, 1947 to John and Serena Pietsch. She grew up in Kahala and attended Punahou, cheering for the teams as a song leader. After attending the University of the Pacific, Syd married her high school sweetheart Roy Helbush and raised their two children in Kaneohe. Then, after several years on her own, she had a chance meeting with her former Punahou teacher Robert Kenny. He'd given her a D in History but they put that behind them to have many fun years together.

Syd was devoted to her family and adored by them. She could often be found with glitter signs and lei in support of her granddaughters' many, many performances and sporting events. She loved Christmas, baking cookies and creating personalized holiday egg ornaments.

Syd worked for thirty years as a Trust Officer at Bank of Hawaii and in volunteer leadership at the Junior League of Honolulu, ARCS Foundation, P.E.O International and Hawai'i Education of the ARTS. Her grace and selflessness were evident to all in her life.

Sydney is preceded in death by her parents, brother Gary, nephew Billy and husband Bob. She is survived by her daughter Liza (Helbush) Wacker (m. John), Tyler Helbush (Stephanie), step-sons Robert and Matthew Kenny, four awesome granddaughters Kate, Alexa, Sam and Ally, her sister Tracy Pietsch and brother Bill Pietsch along with lots of cousins and a multitude of friends.
