Herbert Yoshito Kagemoto
Herbert Yoshito KagemotoHerbert Yoshito Kagemoto, 96, of Aiea, a retired Japan Airlines reservations manager, died on July 16, 2021 in Kaneohe. He was born in Honolulu and graduated from Farrington High School. Predeceaased by his loving wife, Nobuye Shirley (Furukawa) Kagemoto, a retired accountant at Barbers Point Naval Air Station. His Nissei father, Kanji Nakatani, was a chauffeur, and his mother, Tsurumi Kagemoto, was a Shinto priestess. He was one of seven siblings.

As a member of the Military Intelligence Service in World War II, T/Sgt. Kagemoto was a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian award bestowed by the U.S. Congress. After the war, he served as part of the U.S. Occupation Forces in Tokyo, Japan.

He enjoyed gardening his Japanese taro araimo and jabong pomelo, shooting craps in Vegas, and traveling around the world with his wife. He will always be remembered for his quiet and cheerful demeanor. Survived by sisters Jean K. Kagemoto and Lillian K. Thompson; sons Raymond (Corinne) and Haro (Patricia); granddaughter Emerald; twenty-one nieces, nephews & their families. Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Good Samaritan Pohai Nani for all the loving care they provided during his stay there. Also, special thanks to the Komatsubara Family, the Okuno Family, the Kurtz Family and Shingon Shu Hawaii for always being there for my parents. Private services. No koden or flowers.
