Janet Catherine Curley, RN, PhD, of Lumberton, NJ, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in the company of her sister Jean. She was 61.Born in New York City, her family moved to New Jersey and Janet continued travelling whenever she could. She loved new experiences - different foods, new cultures, the inspirations of nature. She reveled in all forms of beauty - the untouched world, clothing and jewelry and pottery, and the people around her. She fought injustices and always made time for her friends. Any time she was near the ocean, she was happy. Janet enjoyed helping and teaching people, so she became a nurse and later a Professor of Nursing.
Janet was beloved by a wide range of family and friends, and will be deeply missed. Daughter of the late Helene (Rizzo) and Alfred Curley, she is survived by her sisters Jean Curley and Diane Christensen; six nieces and nephews: Nicole, Bradley, Noelle, Laura, Brandon and Brien, as well as her ex, Jonathan Sudler.
A viewing will be on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Friday September 10, 2021, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Mathis Funeral Home in Medford, NJ. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow on September 10th, at 1:30 p.m., at Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ.
The family requests masks be worn for the viewing and services, in accordance with Covid protocols.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Janet's memory to a progressive charity of the donor's choice.
