90, passed away on August 20 in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu to Edward and Luciana (Chong) Tom, he attended the Kamehameha Schools and graduated in 1949. He joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves, was placed on active duty in August of 1950 and sent to Korea in support of the conflict. He served at the forefront with the 4.2 Mortar Company, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division during the drive to the Chosin Reservoir, Korea, where he survived, was awarded a purple heart and became a distinguished member of the "Chosin Few" (Hawaii branch). He was discharged from active duty on February 28, 1952, but continued in the reserves where he retired as a 1st Sgt. He joined Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in the 60's as an apprentice and retired as a General Foreman in 1996. He loved to bowl and was a league member of the Westside Hawaiians Mixed league, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Mixed Handicap and Scratch leagues at Kalihi Bowl and later in retirement with Tuesday Mixed Four-Some at Fort Shafter as well as Sunshine Mixed Handicap leagues at Leeward. He follows in the footsteps of his predeceased wife, Mary Kawehinanionapua Kamaka Tom (2008) and his son, Brian Tom (2016). He is survived by sons Derek (Shirley) Tom, Isaac (Polly Ann) Tom, Michael (Jolene) Tom and daughter Dawn (Michael) Cadoy, 16 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services: Friday, September 24, 2021, Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel.
