Upon her retirement, Janet reconnected with her Okinawan roots and her love of the performing arts. She performed with the Paranku Club of Hawaii, the Nakasone Dance Academy and Na Leo Nahenahe o Na Kupuna (hula). She was also a member of Nishihara Chojin Kai.
Janet's hobbies included travel, crossword puzzles, and family. She was the family's biggest cheerleader as well as the family's photographer.
Janet was predeceased by husband, Tsuneo, "Tama," after 57 years of marriage. Survived by daughters, Sandra, "Sandi," Yim (Dr. Mike Yim) and Pamela, "Pam," Tamashiro (John Bryant, Jr.) and son, Mark Tamashiro; grandson, Scott Yim (Difei); grand- daughters, Reiko Bryant, Chiemi Bryant, and Nicole (Tamashiro) Valenzuela (Asher); and four great-grandchildren.
