Age 95, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2021. Janet was born in Paia, Maui on May 14, 1926, and raised in Wahiawa, Oahu. She graduated from Leilehua High School in 1944 and Margaret Dietz Commercial School in 1946. She retired from Tripler Army Medical Center as a medical secretary after 40 years of service from 1950 to 1990. Upon her retirement, Janet reconnected with her Okinawan roots and her love of the performing arts. She performed with the Paranku Club of Hawaii, the Nakasone Dance Academy and Na Leo Nahenahe o Na Kupuna (hula). She was also a member of Nishihara Chojin Kai.
Janet's hobbies included travel, crossword puzzles, and family. She was the family's biggest cheerleader as well as the family's photographer.
Janet was predeceased by husband, Tsuneo, "Tama," after 57 years of marriage. Survived by daughters, Sandra, "Sandi," Yim (Dr. Mike Yim) and Pamela, "Pam," Tamashiro (John Bryant, Jr.) and son, Mark Tamashiro; grandson, Scott Yim (Difei); grand- daughters, Reiko Bryant, Chiemi Bryant, and Nicole (Tamashiro) Valenzuela (Asher); and four great-grandchildren.
