Born May 26, 1932, in Honolulu, he was a US Army veteran, a graduate of Roosevelt High School and the University of Hawaii, and obtained a master's degree in music education from Columbia University. After living in New York he moved to North Hollywood, California where he was very active in supporting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the entertainment industry.
Alvin is survived by his sister Rita Mae I. Lee; nieces and a nephew; grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Akong and Gladys Ing; and brothers Robert and Rudolph Ing.
Private services were held.
