FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Joseph Takashi Yasutake
Joseph Takashi YasutakeAfter a long struggle with cancer, Joe passed away peacefully at home, as was his wish. He was born in Lihue, Kauai, to Ann and Yasu Yasutake. His tales of childhood days made growing up on the island sound idyllic. He went on to letter in sports at Kapaa High, graduated from Church College Hawaii (BYU) and did his turn in the Army before living on Oahu from the late 1960s.

Joe was a "Jack-of-all trades": waiter, salesman, coach, golfer, chef, mentor... but a real "Master of one" in his many years as a Parks and Rec director at Palolo Valley District Park. He had a definite calling for the work and talked passionately about those days right up until the very end.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nikki; their three children: Jennifer Stagner, Joseph (J.P.) and Jillian; his "kids-in-law": Kealoha Stagner, Felicia Barbosa and Rich Dela Cruz; and his beloved grandchildren: Hunter, Mia, Grace Ann, D.J., Koa, Lucky, Ryder, Ephesian and Ranger.

Services have been postponed in these uncertain times. A celebration of life will be held when everyone can gather together safely. If you wish to be notified, please email yasutakefamily2@gmail.com. In the meantime, the family would love to hear your memories of Joe. Please do email those remembrances as well. We wish to thank the caring staff at Straub, Wilson and especially St. Francis Hospice for all their kind support.
