Tomoyoshi “Tomo” Higa
94, of Aiea, passed away on September 9, 2021. Born on January 8, 1927 on a Waipahu plantation camp, Tomo was the eldest son of Takechiyo and Ushi Higa. After graduating from Waipahu High School in 1944, Tomo enlisted in the U.S. Army. After he was honorably discharged, he married Doris Yasuko Nakamatsu and they raised two children. He was an active member of Nakagusuku Sonjin Kai. Tomo worked at the Chevron Refinery and retired after 25 years of service. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, traveling to Las Vegas, supporting UH football and baseball, cheering for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco 49ers, and spending time with his three grandchildren. He is survived by Doris, his wife of 67 years, son Milton (Debbie) Higa, daughter Patsy (Rodney) Nanbu, and grandchildren, Sarah Nanbu, Justin Higa, and Kayla Nanbu. He was preceded in death by siblings, Kiyo Asato, Betty Smith, Molly Vegas, Jimmy "Jinki" Higa, and Samuel Higa. Private services to be held.
