Jewel Kanoelani (Petersen) Haviland, loving wife, friend, mother and grandmother, passed from this life on 13 October 2021. Jewel, born and raised on the Windward Side of Oahu, came to Alaska in the 1970's to help open a Polynesian Restaurant. Jewel married Robert Alan Haviland in 2013, they continued to make their home in Alaska and loved to travel back to Hawaii and Connecticut visiting family and friends. Jewel and husband relocated to Oahu in summer of 2021. However, things were not as expected and they decided to move back to Alaska in Spring of 2022, where they met and lived the majority of life together. Jewel's ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony, in the ocean outside her childhood home in Kualoa; in a river in Alaska; and interred in her cemetery plot in Connecticut next to Robert's parents. Thank you to our son Kaleo, Jewel's sister-in-law Lorie and dear friends Kieran and Fred, for spending time with Jewel and her husband during this difficult time.
