Randall Lee Shaw
Randall Lee Shaw Randall Lee Shaw was born on October 3, 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas, and died at age 73 on October 11, 2021 in Honolulu. Randy was born into a volleyball family. His parents, H. L. and Juanita Shaw played competitive volleyball and they instilled the love of the game in Randy. This led to a time on the US National Volleyball team and a silver medal at the Pan American games.
Randy enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Hickam AFB, giving him his first taste of Hawaii. He was an All-American volleyball player at USC where he earned two regional volleyball titles and a degree. After graduation Randy returned to Hawaii to make it his home. He worked for First Hawaiian Bank and Punahou School and officiated volleyball matches for the University of Hawaii.
Randy is a long-time member of the Outrigger Canoe Club. He was elected to the Winged "O" in 2010. He played and coached on numerous successful OCC USVBA club volleyball teams from 1973 until 2004. He was fondly called "Cowboy' by his volleyball teammates due to his loyalty to his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Randy greatly enjoyed social and competitive bridge during the past 15 years, and made many lasting friendships playing the game.
