On September 11, 2021, Vernon Carl Broad, age 64, was met at the gates of heaven by his parents Charles and Nellie Broad, his brother Charles ("Charley Boy") and sister Cathy. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Jennifer, sons Nolan and Reuben, daughter Tamra and his five precious grandchildren Taimane, Roycen, Ryeden, Teomaka and Tahihere who he held close to his heart. Vernon is also survived by his sister Terry Keawe and brother George Leuchtenberg, half sisters, aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a hanai son, Nick Batungbacal.Vernon attended McKinley High School until he joined the Army in 1974. He graduated from Castle High School in 1976 and attended the University of Hawaii while serving in the Army Reserves.
Vernon was the President of the Hawaiian Dragons Motorcycle Club. As such, a MEMORIAL BIKE RIDE from HAU BUSH, EWA BEACH TO HEEIA STATE PARK, KANEOHE will take place in his honor on SUNDAY, JANUARY 9, 2022 at 9:00 am, with a MEMORIAL DRIVE-THRU VISITATION FOR RIDERS at 12 noon. An outdoor MEMORIAL SERVICE will start at 1:00 pm, followed by an indoor CELEBRATION OF LIFE with food and Hawaiian music at 2:30 - 5:30 pm.
Family and friends are welcome. Carpooling is highly recommended.
