FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

EUGENE LEROY FERGUSON
On December 22, 2021, Eugene Leroy Ferguson passed away suddenly with his wife of 50 years, Doris and their son, Kurt, by his side.

Gene was born on February 12, 1934 in Sacramento, California. His father, James Leroy Ferguson and his mother, Doris Miriam Vincent, moved throughout the area of Lake Tahoe, Sacramento and settled in Carmichael, California.

Married in 1952 to his first wife, Patricia, Gene attended Jr. College (earning an AA degree) and later Oregon State University. Drafted by the Army in 1958, they served at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Their son, Barry, was born in Alabama in 1959. Eventually, Gene graduated with a B.S. in Forestry from Oregon State University in 1961.

After working in the Calif. area in various jobs, Gene was hired by Mililani Town and came to Hawaii in 1967. After their divorce, Gene married his wife, Doris in 1971. They built their home in 1971 and their son, Kurt, was born in 1973. His tenure at Mililani was not quite 20 years.

After retirement, Gene worked as an independent consultant for Baldwin Pacific Properties and also the Molokai Ranch.

Known in the neighborhood as both a yard man and home repair guru, he greeted all people with a smile. His laughter was often heard as he chatted with the various walkers of the area. Gene was always willing to help others solve their home or yard problems. With his advice and willing hands, he did all he could for others.

Gene is survived by his wife, Doris; his two sons, Kurt and Barry; his two grandchildren, Kaylee and A.J.; and his two great-grandchildren, Emily and Peyton.

Per his wishes, there will be no formal funeral. Anyone wishing to honor his passing is requested by the family to make a donation to their favorite charity in his name. Gene would approve as others will benefit for the action.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
