Jane Toshie Nakamura
Jane Toshie Nakamura88, of Aiea, was welcomed into heaven on December 14, 2021. Born in Honoka'a, Hawai'i, and raised in Lana'i City, she was the first recipient of the Hawaiian Pineapple Company's four-year college scholarship ("Dole Scholarship"). After giving her life to Christ as a young woman, she lived her life with the purpose of serving and glorifying God and was a faithful member of Grace Fellowship Hawaii. She retired from the State Department of Education as a teacher at Waimalu Elementary School. She deeply loved her family, friends, church community, former students and colleagues. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Takeshi "Ta-ke"; parents, Masaru and Hatsuko Sakamura; brother, Ray; and sisters, Dora Sakamura and Phyllis Rabang. She is survived by her sons, Neal and Ted (Ruth) Nakamura; daughters, Aileen (Rev. Jim) Playter and Elissa (Ron) Richardson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ralph and Gerald (Nancy) Sakamura. Service 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary; visitation from 10:00 a.m. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, full vaccination or 48-hour in-person testing with negative result is required.
