Marion Kawaipuilani Ah Ping Hufen
Marion Kawaipuilani Ah Ping HufenDecember 7, 1930 - January 21, 2022. Marion was born in Kamalo Molokai. After birth, she was brought to Oahu and Hanaied by the Keliipuleole family. When she was 12 years old, she started living with her biological parents Ah Hong and Aileen Ah Ping in Makiki. She attended Lincoln School, St. Francis School in Manoa and Holy Names College in San Francisco. After graduating from college she taught military dependents in Germany and Okinawa and did a lot of traveling as well. After returning to Oahu, she taught at Kainalu, Maunawilli and Noelani elementary schools. In 1967 she married Theo Hufen from the Netherlands whom she had met during a trip of England, Scotland and Whales. After retiring from teaching, Marion attended classes to learn to dance the Hula and the Hawaiian language. Besides reading, gardening and traveling, she often socialized with former coworkers and traveling friends. She became actively involved in baby sitting when her grand- children arrived. Marion will be remembered as a happy, easy going and optimistic person who was truly interested in things with a nice sense of humor. She was a precious person to all who knew her. Marion is survived by her husband Theo Hufen, her son William (Eriko) Hufen, two grandchildren and brother Donald Keliipuleole. Services will be February 23 at Diamond Head Mortuary. Visitation: 10:00 am, Service: 11:00 am, Burial: 12:00 noon
