Sueko or "Sue" was born in Hilo, Hawaii on November 14, 1926. She graduated from Hilo High School in 1945, then moved to Honolulu to be with her older sister Shizuko to attend vocational school. Sue began her career as a cafeteria manager at August Ahrens Elementary school and later moved to Palolo Elementary. After leaving her career as a cafeteria manager, she stayed home to take care of her three children and volunteered at Wilson Elementary School.
In 1978, she began her second career as an accounts payable clerk at the family business, Okuhara Foods. She worked there until her retirement in 2015.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband James Okuhara, brother Fuei Arakaki, and sisters, Kame Hokama, Shigeko Arakawa, Hatsue Kaneshiro, Fumiko Nakamoto, Shizuko Oshiro and Tomiko Yagi. She is survived by sons, Eric and Phil Okuhara, and daughter Lori (Dexter) Teruya, 4 grand- children and 1 great-grandson.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
