Born on September 9, 1930 passed away on January 23, 2022. After graduation from the University of Pittsburgh, he entered the US Navy as an officer. His first active duty station was aboard the USS Rio Grande (AOG-3) berthed at Pearl Harbor in 1953. His professional career was in education; he retired after 42 years. He taught in California, Alabama, Hawaii, other Pacific Islands including Ulul Island, a remote island in Chuuk, Micronesia where he was the principal of WeiPat H.S. John's ashes will be committed to the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
