Thomas Robert Pacheco, “Captain”
Thomas Robert Pacheco, of Waipahu, Hawai'i, passed away at home surrounded by family on February 6, 2022, after a long illness. He was 77 years old. Thomas is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Beatrice Roseann, his children Robert Aaron and Brenda Ann, his hanai son Philip Cser, his siblings Ernest (Rose), Ralph (Patty), Criseldo (Tina), Timothy (Dolores) and Christina (Scott Belnap), and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Criseldo and Liva Pacheco. Thomas, known as "Bob" or "Bobby" to his family and friends and "Captain" to his coworkers, was born on March 3, 1944, in Farmington, New Mexico. He grew up in Aztec, New Mexico, and Tiffany, Colorado, and graduated from Ignacio High School in 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University in 1967. Thomas worked as a waterfront engineer at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard on the island of O'ahu, Hawai'i, from 1967 until his retirement in 2001. During his leisure time and retirement, Thomas enjoyed painting, rock art, gardening, dancing, swimming, going to the beach, playing the guitar, watching boxing and football, and traveling around the world with his family and friends. He was a longtime member of El Club Latino Internacional, the Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association, and Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church. Services have been held in Ignacio, Colorado.
