Louis Kamaka Kaio, III, “Sonny”
Louis Kamaka Kaio, III, Louis "Sonny" Kamaka Kaio, III, one of the very last pure Hawaiians to grace this earth, turned in his final one-way bus pass to heaven on Feb 27th, 2022. Born to Louis Kaio, Jr. and Mary Niau Ho'opai in Waimanalo on Sep 12th, 1956, he was affectionately known as Braddah, Sonny Boy, Uncle Sonny or Louie. Sonny had a warm friendly smile and renowned as the man that caught the #57 bus from Waimanalo to Ala Moana Center every day, rain or shine. He attended Kainalu, Waimanalo Elem & Intermediate and graduated from Kailua High School in 1975. Sonny spent over 20 years as a dishwasher for John Dominis Restaurant. He never forgot a face or a birthday and was known as our "Hawaiian Rain Man." A true, die-hard San Francisco 49er fan until the very end, he passed away peacefully in his sleep wearing his favorite 49er shirt. Louis is survived by his beloved sister's Clarice Lucero, Julie-Marie Hartsock, Lucy, Mary and Susie Kaio, and Chanda Keawe, 13 nieces & nephews, and 24 grand- nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and sister's Laverne Coffey, Dianalyn Kaio, Juliana Sklar and Ramona Rosa. We would like to invite those who knew him to please join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 19th from 12 noon - 3pm at the family home located at 41-914 Kalaniana'ole Highway in Waimanalo. Lunch will be served at 12 noon and fellowship and service to start at 1pm.
