FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Satsuki May Fukutomi
Satsuki May FukutomiSatsuki May Fukutomi passed away on January 23, 2022 at the age of 95.

May grew up in Paauilo town during the Great Depression helping her widowed mom and eight siblings run a restaurant which served the best food in Hamakua. She served 20+ years as a bookkeeper, and in retirement, enjoyed walking her grandson home for an after school ice cream treat. She is remembered as someone always lending support and a steady helping hand with kindness and humility. Mom was an anchor to her family. Siblings and their children who came to Oahu to further their education were warmly welcomed to our home and supported. Mom took care of everything and everyone, was a keeper of traditions and wonderful family celebrations, camping and fishing trips, and until her early 80's drove the long distance to town at 4 am on Sundays to volunteer to prepare church lunches. What Mom loved most was that everyone was doing well and living with kindness. Always smiling, loved to laugh, loved to dance, so full of life, she fully lived her life. She was an exceptional mother to her daughters, Myrna and Karen, and a loving grandmother to three grandchildren. May is also survived by her brother, Edward Kurokawa. The family wishes to thank Lillia and Nayda Gamiao for the wonderful care they provided till the very end.

Private services to be held later.
