Born on February 28, 1926 in Lahaina, Maui to Junichi and Kiyo Yamasaki, Thelma was the third of five children. She grew-up in the plantation camps and graduated from Lahainaluna High School. After World War II, Thelma and Sharkey moved to Oahu where they raised their family. Thelma had a successful career selling shoes at Sears Roebuck & Co for over 30 years. In retirement, she enjoyed taking classes in Hawaiian hula and Ikebana, growing orchids, watching Tiger Woods play golf and traveling to Japan.
Thelma is survived by her four daughters, JoAnn, Yvonne, Corinne and Lynn, son-in-law, Mel, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her family respectfully requests no gifts.
