Randal D. Morita passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2022, 10 days after his 68th birthday. He was a loving, caring husband, father, son, and brother and will be greatly missed by his wife Fran Morita, son Dr. Scott Morita (wife Dr. Jaclyn Palola), daughter Dr. Kim Morita (husband Landen Buckley), and sister Sharon (husband Chris) Kelly. He was predeceased by his parents, Mitsuru and Isako Morita and sister, Donna Morita, all from Los Angeles. Born in Los Angeles, Randy (as he was known to most) grew up and attended schools in Gardena. He then earned his undergraduate, dental school, and orthodontic degrees from USC, making him an unwavering Trojan fan. Randy eventually moved to Hawaii, where he established his own orthodontic practice with offices in Aiea and Honolulu.
A lifelong learner, Randy was a consummate professional and a master of his craft. He had a zest for life that was enriched with his passion for orthodontics, as well as marathon running, traveling, and wine. While transitioning to retirement in recent years, his interests expanded to include smoking bacon, gardening vegetables, and golfing which he enjoyed with family and friends. Randy will forever be remembered and loved dearly by his extended family and friends for his sense of humor, thoughtful conversations, and his inspiring words of wisdom.
Due to COVID concerns, a private memorial service was held in February.
