FLORENCE SHIGEKO UTSUMI was born in 1945 in Paia, Maui to Masao and Ruth Umeko Takaki and passed away on January 30, 2022. Florence was one of six children. Florence graduated from Maui High School in 1963 and attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she met the love of her life, Barry Utsumi. Florence worked at Liberty Bank in Honolulu. After retiring from Liberty Bank, Florence returned to work for her beloved boss the late Lawrence Ching, at Taihook Associates. Florence enjoyed shopping, fashion, and travelling. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Barry Utsumi; daughter Wendy Utsumi; siblings Donald Takaki, June Kawanishi, and Diane (Verlin) Nishimura; brother-in-law Randall (Leatrice) Utsumi; sisters-in-law Johnette (Brian) Yoshida and Carole (Mark) Tsutsumi; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Myrtle (Harry) Harada and brother Eugene (Bernice) Takaki. Funeral services will be held at Hosoi Mortuary on Friday, April 15, visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. No flowers please.
