CONSTANCE “CONNIE” ASAE OYADOMORI COLLINS
Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on February 7, 2022, in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, at the age of 95. Connie is survived by her sons: John Jr. (Anastasia), William (Angela); grandchildren: Catherine Jade, John-Brooks, Brandace-Mori, C.J., Caysha, Caysey, Steven Ross, Victoria, and Isabella: great-grandchildren: Brendan, Grey, and Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents: Gentei Oyadomari and Kama Chinen; husband: John K. K. Collins; sons: Joseph and Calvin, daughter-in-law: Cheryl; brothers: Richard, James, George, Frank, Eugene, and Francis; sisters: Grayce, and Evelyn. Connie was born on September 10, 1926, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She grew up in Kalihi and graduated from Farrington High School in 1944. She attended Cannon Business School. While working at Honolulu Rapid Transit, she met her love, John K. K. Collins, to whom she was married for 59 years. Over five years, they welcomed four boys into their home at St. Louis Heights. Although raising four boys was a full-time job, Connie found time to stay fit and active. When she was not at Iolani School volunteering, you could see her jogging around Kapiolani Park. Later in life, she also took up golf, tai chi, Zumba, water aerobics, and working out at the gym. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and friends spreading the aloha spirit. She loved socializing with friends, including regular lunches with her high school friends and family parties at the St. Louis home. Connie and her husband, John, spent several years in Holualoa on the Big Island farming Kona coffee before moving back to Oahu to retire in Ewa Beach. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Diamond Head Memorial Park Chapel, 535 18th Avenue, Honolulu, HI. Visitation will occur at 11:00 AM, services will follow at 11:30 AM, and the interment of Constance and her beloved husband, John K. K. Collins, will follow at 12:30 PM.
