Lena Chang Affonso
102 years old, journeyed to heaven on April 9, 2022 to be united with her loving husband and son. Her family mourns her loss but rejoices that she is reunited with loved ones in eternal peace and joy in The Lord's kingdom. Lena, born in Honolulu, Hawaii, January 2, 1920 was the 8th child and 3rd daughter of Ak Chang and Chin Kew Lau Chang, in a family of 14 children. She worked as a secretary; owned a shoe repair shop in Kailua 40 years; sold real estate; and was an annual top salesperson at Liberty House/ Nordstrom in the shoe department. Lena, a world traveler, visited Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Washington, DC, Canada, China and Rome, Italy where she attended an invitation only audience with Pope John Paul II, now a Saint. Lena, predeceased by husband Godfrey and son John Alfred (Allyson) is survived by son William (Dyanne), daughter Caroline, 5 grandchildren (Kevin, Javey, Aaron, Ashlee and Amanda) and 3 great-grandchildren (Reed, Audriana and Andie); brothers Howard and Franklin, sisters Eva and Miranda and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral service will be private, due to COVID-19. Our heartfelt Aloha to all who enriched our mother's life and Mahalo for their sympathy, kindness and prayers.
