FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ROBERT J. “BOBBY” LUUWAI
Robert J. "Bobby" Lu'uwai, of Kula and Makena, passed away peacefully at Hale Makua on November 18, 2021, with his family by his side. Bobby was born in Pu'unene Maui on New Year's Day 1935 to the late John and Angeline Ka'uhane Lu'uwai. He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Beatrice Rosa, Mary Martin and Bernice "Jack" Perreira, and one brother John "Boogie" Lu'uwai.

Bobby worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for almost 54 years before retiring. He was active in many community groups related to the ocean and especially the Protect Kaho'olawe Ohana.

Bobby is survived by his wife Helen, sister Geraldine "Geri" Wilhelm (George, dec.), sons Robert Kaleialoha (Charmaine Haleakala), John Kalehua, Paul Ka'uhane and daughter-in-law Mary Akimo-Lu'uwai. He also leaves behind his wonderful grandchildren, Paul Ordonez (hanai), Joseph Kaleialoha, Kauluponookaleilehua Maren, Mogul Kamana'opono, Kawaikaunu, John Kalehua, Jr., Lillian Ka'aloianuokaluapele, and Hi'ilei Kim-lan, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins of the extended Kukahiko family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Keawala'i Congregational Church in Makena. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by lunch and scattering at sea aboard the Pualele and Pualeleiki. COVID-19 procedures will be followed and masks will be required.
