Shannon Sumie Ishimoto
Shannon Sumie Ishimoto43, passed away on May 27, 2021 in Seattle, Washington with her son and mother at her side. Shannon was born on October 2, 1977 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Shannon was a loving and caring mother, daughter, sister, and aunty who will truly be missed by all. She is survived by her beloved son, Russel Ishimoto; her parents, Russell Ishimoto and Wendy Miyaji; sisters, Sheryle (Nathan) Kawamura in San Diego, Sharyn Miyaji in Las Vegas; Melanie Anderson and Jessica (Jason) Miyaji in Seattle; grandmother Alice Sumiko Kim; grandfather Dr. Richard Miyaji; and nieces Arya and Teya Anderson and companion Aniceto "Ceto" Villanueva. Shannon was preceded in death by her stepfather Dr. Stephen Miyaji; maternal grandfather Richard H. K. Kim; paternal grandparents Hideto and Tomie Ishimoto; uncle Bruce Ishimoto; and aunty Kathleen Ishimoto.

Shannon graduated from McKinley High School, Class of 1995. During high school, Shannon worked for her stepfather in his dental office. She also found time to help others as a student volunteer at the Kuakini Adult Day Care Center and at the Nuuanu YMCA summer program. After graduation, her love and talent for baking inspired her to work at the bakery in the Daiei store and attend the Honolulu Community College vocational training program for culinary arts. Baking became her hobby when she began working under contract at the Veteran's Administration. In April 2006, she was hired as a Fee Basis Clerk and later transferred to payroll to work as a Civilian Payroll Technician.

She enjoyed crafting, was an exceptional cook and baker, had an interest in cars and sports, enjoyed fishing and going to the beach to barbecue, and loved to travel. Shannon lived her life to its fullest and always encouraged others to do the same.

There are many things about Shannon that we miss - her beautiful smile and dimple, sense of humor, the sound of her voice and laughter, and her exceptional love for life. We were all blessed to be a part of her wonderful life and share in the abundance of joy and happiness that she brought to everyone.

Private services were held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary Friday,
