Wilfred V. G. Chong, Clifford G. Y. Chong
Wilfred V. G. Chong, 92, died in his hometown of Honolulu, HI, on November 19, 2021. Born in Honolulu on September 24, 1929, he was the ninth of twelve children of Meu Yuen and Abbie Ho Chong.
A graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute, he received his BS degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota and his MS degree from Kansas State. He worked as a chemist at Pearl Harbor. Married to Ethel Chong for 63 years, he was a father to 4 sons and grandfather of 4.
Wilfred was a man of many interests including choral music, bridge, fishing, gardening and traveling.
Survived by his wife Ethel; sons Philip, David (Margarita) and Walter (Sharon); grandchildren: Colin, Quinn, Kalev and Avram; brothers Leonard and Richard.
Clifford G. Y. Chong, 60, died at his home in Morristown, NJ, on April 18, 2020. Born in Honolulu on November 25, 1959, he was the oldest son of Wilfred and Ethel Chong.
A graduate of Radford High School in 1977, he attended the University of California at Berkeley and then received his BBA degree from the University of Hawaii. He was a long-time employee of Covanta Energy in New Jersey, where he was Director of Finance. A great sports fan, he was an avid follower of the Cal Bears, SF Giants, SF 49ers and LA Kings.
Survived by his mother Ethel; brothers Philip, David (Margarita) and Walter (Sharon); 1 niece, 3 nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
