67, passed away on May 23, 2022 in Portland, Oregon. Born in Los Angeles and lived in Honolulu until 2017, attending Roosevelt High School and the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. He is survived by wife Janice Okuhara, daughter Marisa Hagino (Matthew Kereczman), son Mychal Okuhara (Ian Pham), grandson Cooper Kereczman, and sister Margo Okuhara.George was an artist and educator, having taught at Barbers Point Elementary, Saint Louis School, and Mid-Pacific Institute. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his students and also dedicated himself to encouraging their extra-curricular activities in roles that included tennis coach and yearbook adviser.
Though he loved Hawai'i, he approached life in Portland with great zest. He enjoyed exploring nature and the many restaurants, breweries, and wineries in the area, all while making new friends. The highlight of his retirement was being able to spend time with his beloved grandson, who brought him boundless joy.
