George was an artist and educator, having taught at Barbers Point Elementary, Saint Louis School, and Mid-Pacific Institute. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his students and also dedicated himself to encouraging their extra-curricular activities in roles that included tennis coach and yearbook adviser.
Though he loved Hawai'i, he approached life in Portland with great zest. He enjoyed exploring nature and the many restaurants, breweries, and wineries in the area, all while making new friends. The highlight of his retirement was being able to spend time with his beloved grandson, who brought him boundless joy.
