Yuk Ip Chun Fong
Yuk Ip Chun Fong, born on November 22, 1929 to Lee Tong Chun and Lee Shee Chun and the youngest of their seven children, passed away on March 28, 2021. Yuk Ip grew up in Kalihi, graduated from Farrington High School in 1949, and then attended the University of Hawaii. She married briefly and had her two sons, Henry ("Donald") and Paul. As a single mom she raised her two boys at her mother's Kalihi home while working with two of her brothers at their family store. After many years, the store was sold and Yuk Ip went on to attend Kapiolani CC and obtained an Associate Degree in accounting. Then, in 1978, she went to work at City Mill in its Accounting Department under then President David C. Ai. Yuk Ip retired from City Mill in 1990 and moved to California to be with her first grandchild, Hannah, and then her second grandchild, Judith. After her granddaughters had grown, Yuk Ip returned to an active social life back in Honolulu, especially at the Kalihi YMCA, and to her love of gardening. She was loved and cherished by her entire family and her many friends. Yuk Ip is survived by her sons, Henry and Paul, and her granddaughters, Hannah and Judith. Services to celebrate Yuk Ip's life will held at the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, Lower Chapel, 47-200 Kahekili Highway in Kaneohe at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 18, 2022. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or koden, charitable donations be made to the "Kalihi YMCA." The courtesy of masks is requested at the services.
