FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Elaine Houghton Sipple Weidknecht
Elaine Houghton Sipple WeidknechtElaine passed out of this world and into the next quietly and peacefully on April 4th, nine days shy of her 95th birthday. Her knowledge, creativity, talent, devotion, personality/wit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Elaine arrived in Honolulu in 1950 after graduating from Syracuse University with a degree is nursing. After arrival, she vowed never to leave these beautiful shores and pristine weather. The snows of up-state New York would be a thing of the past. Elaine started her nursing career at Kapiolani Women's and Children's Hospital in the Neonatal unit working with premature babies. Married in 1953 to H. Charles Weidknecht, and her daughter was born in 1955. The family moved to Bangkok, Thailand in 1955 and her son was born in 1957 in Thailand. Many travels and adventures followed. The family moved home to Oahu in 1958.

Through the years, Elaine was dedicated to raising her children, volunteering in her community, and continuing her nursing in various forms (Home care, house calls). Elaine was the embodiment of grace and dignity, even in difficult times and under pressure. She was a true blessing. We love and miss her.

Elaine is survived by her daughter; Dorothy (Dew) E. Babyack (Bob), son; H. Charles (Chuck) Weidknecht Jr. (Tammy), grandson; Edmund C. Weidknecht, and many friends and family members on island and on the mainland. A special Mahalo to all the Nurses, CNA's, and staff at Aloha Nursing & Rehab for seven years of treating Elaine like family.
